18-year-old pro Ryan Sheckler brought the spotlight with him into the Staples Center this year where rocked the Etnies shoe he designed, the Sheckler 2. The triple stitched toe-cap, padded collar and vulcanized rubber outsole provide a nice balance of durability, protection and board feel that may explain why the kid never bails. It’s no secret that San Clemente-raised Sheckler has been running the mainstream skate game steady since 2003, after his first X Games Gold at age 13 set him off to celebrity status. Already, he has won first place at the Vans Triple Crown, World Cup of Skateboarding, and three-peated at the Dew Cup, all with the cameras rolling on his life 24 hours. Known for his speed, versatility, and rail skills, Sheckler has the potential to do some serious damage in street skating before he’s ready to retire his deck.
